BGS to provide Cyber Security for DOE Los Alamos Cleanup contract
November 2018: The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) awarded BGS a contract to provide regulatory support to ORNL related to the Transformational Challenge Reactor (TCR) Initiative. Working with the ORNL regulatory team, BGS will provide support to the reactor certification process for the TCR under DOE Rule 10 CFR 830.
N3B, the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contractor, awarded BGS a Master Services Agreement to provide Cyber Security support under the new DOE Los Alamos Cleanup contract. BGS developing design/build package for ORNL Gas Capture System
September 2018: The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) awarded BGS a contract to provide process design support to develop a procurement specification for a gas capture system to be used in a larger process at ORNL. BGS design engineers and technical experts are developing a design/build procurement package and will assist in design review for detailed design and construction of the gas capture system.
BGS performing Nuclear Safety work at Y-12 and Pantex
August 2018: Consolidated Nuclear Services, LLC (CNS), managing contractor for the DOE Y-12 National Security Complex and the Pantex Plant, awarded the Spectra Tech/BGS Team a basic ordering agreement (BOA) to perform task-based nuclear safety related analyses and calculations to support safety documentation for high priority projects at the Y-12 and Pantex plants.

November 2017: BGS, as part of the MELEMAX Team, is awarded a DOE/NNSA Technical, Engineering, and Programmatic Services (TEPS) Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA). The focus of this BPA is to provide DOE/NNSA with technical, engineering and programmatic support services to ensure the proper strategies are utilized to find, secure, and safely dispose of nuclear materials around the globe.
BGS providing comprehensive Cyber Security Program (CSP) services for the DOE DUF6 Conversion Project
April 2017: BGS begins providing comprehensive Cyber Security Program (CSP) services for the DOE DUF6 Conversion Project supporting both the general support systems and the Industrial Control Systems. The CSP included the certification and accreditation process where both protection zones successfully received an authority to operate (ATO). The DUF6 Conversion Project provides for the operation of facilities in Ohio and Kentucky to convert the stored DUF6 into depleted uranium oxide, a more stable chemical form that can be reused, stored, or disposed of.
BGS providing Technical and Engineering Support Services to the DOE Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
February 2017: DOE awards BGS a contract to provide Technical and Engineering Support Services to the DOE Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Services include technical and engineering expertise to support the evaluation and oversight of uranium enrichment technology; administration of various lease agreements between DOE and the United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC); other programmatic activities for DOE NE; and technical/programmatic support services to identify the best strategy for acquiring Highly Enriched Uranium (HEU) downblending services for the NNSA Domestic Uranium Enrichment Program.
BGS gains Senior Vice President for Nuclear & Engineering Services
December 2016: Chris Dean joined BGS as a Senior Vice President to deliver senior business operations leadership, business development, oversight of projects, and overall strategic direction for the BGS Technical Services business area. Mr. Dean is a proven business leader and a widely recognized technical leader. Mr. Dean graduated from West Virginia University with a M.S. in Physics and from Marshall University with a B.S. in Physics. He has over 28 years of experience as a Hazard and Risk Analyst, Nuclear Safety Engineer, Nuclear Safety Manager, Security Analyst, and Program/Project Manager in the aerospace, chemical processing, and nuclear industries. He is an experienced fire and explosion hazards analyst, a qualified senior nuclear criticality safety (NCS) engineer, and an experienced nuclear facility safety engineer who has developed, implemented, and reviewed Safety Basis documentation at several DOE and commercial facilities. He also has significant expertise in the development and management of safeguards and security programs, including performing classification reviews, executing radiological sabotage assessments, and conducting security vulnerability assessments for critical infrastructure.
