How long have you worked at BGS?
Since July 1, 2016
What is your professional background?
Many years ago, my professional career began in customer service where I gained valuable experience in management and eventually owned my own photography business. Over time, I expanded my expertise to include technical electronics and IT Helpdesk support.
In 2013, I embarked on a new chapter with ORAU/ORISE as a Technical Desktop Publisher II Publisher and worked on projects with organizations such as the National Library of Medicine, the National Nuclear Security Association, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Centers for Disease Control, the National Institutes of Health and PubMed.
Subsequently, I transitioned to a role as the Federal Training Center Coordinator with the Department of Energy Oak Ridge (DOE-OR) and Environmental Management Oak Ridge (EM-OR).
Then, BGS successfully won the training contract with DOE in 2016, I continued my association with DOE-OR and EM-OR as the Federal training Center Coordinator. My role has expanded to include Federal Records Management, Technical Qualifications Professional Administrator (TPQ), and National Training Center (NTC) Administrator for the Electronic Technical Qualifications Professionals (eTOP). I now have responsibilities of the BGS HR Recruiting Coordinator playing a vital role in human resources functions.
What hobbies do you enjoy?
I enjoy music, I have been playing guitar since I was 9 years old and enjoy writing music. I also enjoy drawing, and painting with my daughter. Finally, I especially cherish family time including playing with Hazel our Shih Tzu.
Describe the work you do and how you think it makes a positive impact.
My role involves close collaboration with HR and Recruiting teams, facilitating seamless communication and information exchange between them. I am responsible for creating, maintaining, and administering data resources that support HR and Recruiting operations. Additionally, I provide valuable reporting insights, troubleshoot issues and find solutions to overcome challenges related to processes or applications.
As we work to improve efficiency, I recommend and implement changes in our processes to keep them up-to-date with modern practices. I actively participate in EOC compliance reconciliation efforts to ensure adherence to equal opportunity guidelines.
Part of my responsibilities include performing various recruiting functions, such as posting requisitions for all business units. I also assist in certain hiring and recruiting processes, supporting BGS leadership, managers, recruiters, employees, and onboarding candidates.
What has been your proudest career moment?
When I completed the BGS contract with DOE-OR/EM-OR I was awarded and recognized for the service I provided along with a recommendation/reference from the Chief of Operations for all of DOE Oak Ridge as a BGS employee.
